As a first-year teacher, the necessary materials you need in your classroom to create a successful learning environment for your students is unimaginable! It's definitely something they don't teach us in school! The iPad will provide my students with an opportunity to learn in a unique way by listening to podcasts to enrich their learning experience, check out books in our classroom library and also communicate with their parents and show off their portfolios. The rugs will make our classroom feel more welcoming and provide two specific areas for reading and whole group lessons. Our school is over 50 years and in need of updates, carpets being one of them. The sensory items will help some of my students self-regulate and take responsibility for their learning experience in our classroom environment. We are also implementing a "calming corner" in our classroom to help students take a break as needed, regroup and join the class when they are ready. Our school practices the Zones of Regulation, so this added resource will be an amazing benefit for the students. We are fortunate to be 1 to 1 with Chromebooks in our school, however, since the building is older, there are limited outlets in our classroom. The surge-protector power strip will ensure that all of my students Chromebooks are charged and ready for them to utilize.
