The items I am requesting will help our classroom to be better organized during our small literacy group time, helping to ensure that students are able to take advantage of every minute. When organized and students know where to find what to do next, the students are able to gain more independence in their learning. The Group Pocket Chart will be used to display where students should be and what they should be working on during each rotation. The student portfolio folders will help in achieving organization that leads to independence. The multiple pockets will allow for students to be able to find and keep track of their work with ease. The labels will be used to label each pocket of their portfolio folders. We all know that children are more willing to be active participants in their learning when it's disguised as a game. They thrive when challenged to work as a team and independently. The spinners and cardstock will allow for spinners to be created conducive to that week's skill for use during literacy center time. The books requested are to build our classroom library to allow more choice in reading for the students and for use in reading minilessons to teach content. I have found that my students respond to a picture book read-aloud to practice a skill. The "Who Was and What Was" books allow for more choice when reading nonfiction. They are highly engaging and appropriate for 4th graders. I would love to be able to offer more diverse nonfiction books teaching about people and history in general. Thank you for considering my project! I am excited to be able to offer these requested items for use with my students in our learning community.
