I am requesting to fill my library with stories that will transport my students to another world. I want to my students to get so excited about reading that they can't get enough. That's why many of the books that I am requesting are the first in a series or already in a boxed set. I'm also asking for weekly Time for Kids magazines to teach my students the importance of knowing current events and to inspire them to be become a positive light in this world. I believe that there is no such thing as an ordinary child. That they all possess extraordinary gifts that have yet to be revealed. Many of the books I chose focus on that topic and it definitely circles back to the #refusetosink theme of our classroom. Finally, in order to do all of this I also have to improve my methods and philosophy on teaching. Through books, I want to learn from Ron Clark and John Spencer on how to foster more creativity and out of the box thinking. I'm already the kind of teacher who stands on desks and sings and transforms my room every chance I get, but I always strive to be better and these books will help me to perfect my craft.
