Building a reading life means that students are developing their own reading habits, their own reading experiences, and their own thinking. I want to inspire students to see the power that lies within novels so that they create their own reading life, while also learning about themselves and others! Getting students into novels where they can see themselves and others that aren't like them shows students that ANYONE can be a hero in their own story. Students will use The Year of the Dog both at school and at home to strengthen their reading lives at the beginning of the school year. We will be reading and learning as a class alongside Grace, the main character! Thank you for helping me keep student experiences and learning in our classroom relevant, inspiring, and purposeful.
