By having alternative seating in the classroom, students are free to make a choice of which seating arrangement is best for their learning. By giving them a choice, you are helping them begin to learn how to make appropriate choices that will make them more successful in the classroom. Your donation will also help reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom. Studies have shown allowing students to move while working, gives their motor cortex something to focus on, resulting in greater success in learning. Having seating options that allow fidgeting, will support the learning of my students who struggle with sitting still. By having alternative seating, students will have their own space to spread out and room to work. Alternative seating also helps with student engagement. By having higher engagement, students will be more successful. By donating, you will help the learning environment of our classroom by giving my students more choice. Students will have the opportunity to choose to use the dorm chairs during independent work time, specifically during Reader's Workshop, as well as during group activities. Having seating options such as the bouncy bands that meets the physical needs of my students will allow for a less disruptive and a more productive day at school. My students will be able to shine like the stars they are, without being restricted to a traditional chair! These awesome seats are just what my students need and would be a blessing in our class! By giving the more choice, it will help empower them to make better choices and become more successful twenty-first century learners.
