Flexible seating allows my girls to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them. When they feel empowered to make their own decisions regarding how comfortable they are in the classroom during independent learning and are given additional options for seating during whole class instruction, they are more engaged and involved in their learning. In addition to flexible seating, my girls have a cool down area readily available to them as well. When needed, they will independently take time away when feeling overwhelmed. These tools will help them to self-calm and return to their work sooner.
