Haughton High School is a country school located in the small town of Haughton, Louisiana, with a population of over 1200 students. Most of the students do not live in the town of Haughton; many of the disadvantaged students live in very rural areas in the parish and have limited or no transportation for after school activities and limited or no access to technology. My class sizes range from 25-28 students in a very small classroom; we are housed in the oldest building on campus, built in the 1940s. 47% of the overall student population at Haughton High School is economically disadvantaged. Overall, 9% of Haughton High School students recieve special education services under IDEA; however 21% of my students receive special education services. Other demographics for my classes are aligned with the school overall demographics: 78% white 16 % African American 6 % hispanic
