For many students with trauma and sensory issues, having access to a sensory room would mean having a safe space of their own to feel regulated and calm. This will greatly improve academic engagement and benefit not only students, but also staff members in being proactive. This space would provide students with different sensory options and to help them gain a sense of control. The requested materials will assist in decreasing anxiety and aggression while increasing attention spans and supporting emotional regulation. These interventions will help students cope with the various challenges they face each day while learning appropriate coping skills. We look forward to providing this calm and inviting space at our school! Thank you for your consideration in providing this calm and inviting space.
