My students face many challenges. They come to school with more burdens than any fifth grader should ever have to deal with. My goal is to provide a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Our Title One school is extremely unique, with 100% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. There is only one other school with the same percentage in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but instead, we use it as a source of motivation. As Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." We encourage the students to dream and reassure the students that education what is going to provide opportunities for success!

About my class
