Our school is in rural South Carolina and has a high poverty rate, when considered by free & reduced lunch standards. We are in an area where technology is limited by the low tax-payer funding and students get a mish-mosh of resources in the classroom. Our middle schoolers have potential, but are limited by the resources of the area. Students enter school unprepared and, despite quality teaching, struggle to "catch up." In middle school, students should be reading to learn, but we often spend time learning to read.
