These items support the implementation of Reader’s Workshop, which requires students to read independently for extended periods of time. Children need to learn in safe, appropriate, and comfortable environments. The materials listed will allow my students to choose how and where they want to read. Students who need the feeling of a wobble chair or the sturdiness of a stool will be able to have their needs met. Once this task is completed, they can focus on the work of a reader in a comfortable and inviting space. The characters were included to support fluency in my readers. They will be able to read to the characters and practice reading in a smooth tone and build confidence.
