In our current world math and science are evolving at a rapid pace. A huge part of science requires exploration and creativity. I want to provide my students the opportunity to explore and create like an engineer or scientist using STEM materials like magnetic tiles and Lego blocks. Students in my school do not have opportunities to explore with STEM materials at home or at school. I want to change this and provide students with the tools they need in my classroom. My plan is to start science STEM stations in the classroom. I feel students will thrive as an engineer/scientist with the materials I am asking for. Our classroom goal is to incorporate weekly STEM stations for students to explore, build, and think like an engineer or scientist. My job as a classroom teacher is to give students the tools they need to be successful. Having weekly STEM stations where students can have a hands-on approach to their own learning will do just that. It will allow the scientific method to be introduced in a hands-on way that is sure to captivate struggling learners. This will encourage children to write, think analytically, and work towards a goal as they solve challenges like making the strongest structure, building models, and re-imagining with their creativity.
