These read aloud picture books will help my Kinders to connect to the world and provide an enjoyable experience as these little ones journey through phonics, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and comprehension for the first time. In my classroom, students are actively engaged in listening to and discussing each text throughout the read-aloud. Before, during, and after the read-aloud, I guide book conversations through thought provoking discussion questions. This book list includes the picture books that we will focus on for the entire year of Kindergarten. During our reading block specific skills and standards will be targeted as students interact with the text all week. Students will be actively thinking, making connections, and responding to the text in a meaningful way using activities in the curriculum. The curriculum that these books belong to focuses on deepening comprehension, developing and expanding vocabulary, and integrating language skills with the use of a mentor text.
