The materials, resources, and tools requested will meet various needs of my students and our classroom. First, COVID-19 affected every person differently, and some more than others. A big change I notice in my students, is their need for social interactions. Playing with friends, learning with peers, and being in a "classroom family" is something that was lost during remote learning. The learning games and the STEM/building toys, will provide my students opportunities to build and strengthen social skills that are so crucial in their lives.
Since remote learning, I've tried to build a safe, social, collaborative learning environment. Collaborative learning and teamwork is another way I encourage and help to build social and emotional strength within academics. The seating cushions, and small whiteboards are just a few ways that I can help my students to have flexible seating, and social interactions during their class time.
The use of technology and digital platforms skyrocketed during remote learning. The world seems to be implementing and relying on technology more and more as time passes. I use blended learning in my classroom and help my students to understand how to use technology safely, wisely, and effectively. The headsets will be beneficial in our daily class rotations. Students will be able to hear any educational videos, audio books, and recorded instructions clearly. They will also use the microphone on their headsets to record their voices in reading, sharing ideas, and other cool digital resources.
Finally, the few items for organization are going to help my classroom to be a safe, organized, and clean environment for learning and activities. I have spent much of my own money building a classroom library and gathering learning manipulatives for my students. The organization will help my students to find and use these things effectively in our classroom.
