My students need a class set of the classic tale, Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll. My project will include incorporating strategic reading interventions and literacy initiatives into a novel study of Alice in Wonderland. The project will take place in my Learning Strategies (study skills) classroom. The student population is comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. We will integrate technology and ELA standards into the program as well. Collaborative group projects will focus on theme, main ideas, symbolism, and imagery using newly distributed Chromebooks. Students will also be exposed to new vocabulary terms and revisit crucial concepts of plot development. I have acquired many materials for implementation from other teachers online - thanks to all those who upload and share their materials! This project will allow students at CMS the opportunity to develop vital skills needed to be a 21st-century learner. It will also keep the classics in the classroom!
