The American String Teachers Association National Conference is the most beneficial professional development I can attend. Hundreds of workshops are offered over four days. They are put together by master teachers who have had success with the given topics in their classrooms. My students deserve to have the highest quality instruction that I can give them. The 2020 ASTA Conference will provide me with new methods, new materials, networking with teachers, and in-depth workshops on topics that directly impact my students. The students in our district come from varied backgrounds. One of our district initiatives is not only helping students academically, but also addressing their socio-emotional and cognitive development and needs. There will be sessions offered that will help me better understand and support our students. I brought back a new method from the conference last year and we are seeing so much success! The students are playing more confidently, and much sooner with their bows. I've also stayed in contact with many of the teachers I met. They have been invaluable resources for asking questions and addressing the needs of the students in the orchestra. I'm looking forward to bringing even more back for the students. The instruction and experience this conference provides are priceless. This DonorsChoose.org project will help offset the cost of my travel and lodging.
