My students start with me when they begin 9th grade and can stay with me until they turn 21 years old. I teach students that have intellectual disabilities or other special needs and many have issues with social and independent living needs. Some students have health impairments, Autism, etc. My students have had years of education in a special education classroom but I believe that a student is never at their highest level of functioning. Every student can continue to grow and learn. We start easy and try to push each of them to their highest potential while keeping their lessons individualized and targeted to their levels and needs. Many students do not come from much while some are very fortunate, so I try to fill my classroom environment where they can learn and grow in all aspects of development: cognition, socialization, physical, functional/vocational.
