Offering changes in positions and movement opportunities throughout the day provides the children with much needed bursts of activity. A multi-sensory approach to learning contributes to better learning outcomes, attention, focus, less restlessness, and improves participation and behavior. By encouraging my students to wiggle, bounce or wobble; I will be providing them with tools to help them succeed. Frequent postural adjustments strength the core abdominal and truck musculature thus, promoting motor control to utilize a pencil, crayons and other classroom tools. Supplying students with a variety of lap desk options will allow them to find a comfortable spot and still be able to meet their learning targets, specifically using technology tools such as laptops. Also giving them access to stability balls will increase blood flow but still provide a stable, alternative place to sit. Dynamic seating allows you to move and adjust yourself in a non disruptive way, burning off excessive energy and and providing muscles the stimuli they desire. As with any activity, movement increases blood flow to the brain, resulting in increased brain function; allowing improved focus and better knowledge retention.
