The use of flexible seating in my classroom would help students learn by using the tools they already have, but by meeting the social-emotional and behavior challenges they are faced with daily. With the use of medicine balls and wobble seats, it would help my "wiggle worms" stay on task rather than getting antsy and off task. The bands for our chairs will help some of my sensory students stay on task and achieve their learning goals as well. Flexible seating is such a great tool that my students could use in order to stay on task, and less focused with the social- emotional challenges they are feeling. With new flexible seating I am hoping to provide my students with a place to inspire them to be the best they can be, and not only meet their social and emotional and behavioral needs, but a safe place to learn and grow daily academically. The flexible seating will help students to grow daily in a variety of ways. The seating around the room with new cushions will help provide visual cues as to where to sit during our lessons and the stools will help provide more options at our back small group table to reach learners more on a 1:1 basis. The sensory bands, balls, and stools will help students with independent work at their seats. Along with the calm down corner I have already established to help students self- regulate when social- emotional problems arise.
