I desire to incorporate literature to embrace diversity in my classroom. I believe through grade appropriate culturally diverse literature, we can hug what that bring us together as humans. This past year I had the honor of teaching third grade for the first time! Although I have taught prior to this year, majority of my classroom library was targeted for K-2nd grade. I hope I can add these books to our library to not only grow a grade appropriate library but also establish a more culturally appropriate library for students to relate with. Our Title 1 campus is blessed with children who have big hearts, learn in diverse ways and come from various backgrounds. In my classroom, a sense of family and safety is something I set my heart upon. My students come into my classroom knowing they are loved and that is something I want them to never forget. With these items, I believe I will be able to provide a positive classroom environment to meet the needs of my diverse learners. Thank you for your support! I am incredibly thankful!!
