Over the years I have noticed my young learners have much difficulty developing their writing skills. By the end of their second year in my class students are expected to write their first name along with other letters and some numbers. While I do have a writing center and fine-motor activities for my students to use, I believe they deserve much better than I have been able to provide. Having a variety of these hands-on materials and organization tools that I am requesting, will help my students to build the fine-motor skills they need to begin writing letters and numbers. The chart stand will also be a great tool for them to work with their peers and show off their writing skills to the whole class, especially because it is at their height level. I feel these items will help them to stay engaged at the writing center and ultimately provide them with the tools they need to begin writing.
