Have you ever tried to teach someone to swim without letting them get in the water? Science learning with out the hands-on component is just like that. The materials I am requesting will help me make science kits to send home to help my students continue to be excited about learning. They will get to have hands-on experiences even thought they are not in school in person. I am asking for materials to make a kit to send home to every student in three different grade levels. The eighth grade class will explore the concept of pH and chemical reactions. Seventh grade will get excited about geology when they get their kit containing rock samples and magnifying glasses. The sixth grade students will get to study force and motion as they build a marble roller coaster. Students have expressed how challenging it is to keep themselves motivated while trying to learn online. One of the most significant challenges is not having their materials in their hands to explore and inquire. The science kits will increase their learning and raise the enthusiasm for earth and physical science.
