Research has shown that students today require different types of input in order to focus their bodies and brains in order to access learning. Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior, with the best improvement seen in students who are least on-task initially. Before a student can produce work, their teachers need to help them find their learning style and what works best in different settings. For most students, being able to move and having flexible seating choices are more conducive to their learning than traditional rows of tables and chairs. Materials such as yoga mats and wobble cushions allow students to stay in their own space, focus and get the sensory input their brains need. Balance chairs, stools and bed trays allow students to have other options for seated work, either with the teacher or on their own
