The mission of our school is to meet student's needs where they are. To ensure that all students have the materials they need to succeed in ways that they are willing and able. Students are highly motivated with photography and genuine audiences (families, and the school community). I am asking for instant cameras and film to allow students to share their work instantaneously with myself, families, and their school on bulletin boards. Families and students deserve to take home positive memories of school that will last a lifetime. This instant camera would save student work and capture moments of learning. Some of the most creative projects and moments deserve to last forever for multiple students. Book poems, marshmallow structures, edible models, writing character descriptions (dress up project), etc. are projects that students are proud of, but don't last long or are better communicated with a photo. Also, when students work in groups, not everyone is able to take home memories from team posters, projects, or class activities. Students could work in small groups in a short time frame and present their work to the camera. Allowing them to take pride and share their work before it disassembled. These cameras would also allow for state of the art bulletin boards to share student learning with families and parents in the hallways. I would have students take "selfies" with books that they love. These "selfies" would motivate students to read and foster a love of books with individuals and the whole school. Another bulletin board that would benefit is the "Where do you read?" bulletin board. Students could brainstorm areas they read and take snapshots of these cozy places. Many students in the school would benefit from the work of my class. There are other projects that could be displayed as well.
