My first year of teaching was far from “normal”. Teaching during COVID was stressful, but the worst part was that my students were not able to take part in group activities as they would have other years. As we slowly return to normalcy, I will begin incorporating more group activities into my classroom. Read-alouds will be more engaging with students sitting on a carpet. The carpet will also create a sense of community during calendar time and morning meetings. Lastly, it will allow me to provide flexible seating options to those students who need it.
