The supplies on this list will help create a classroom dynamic where I can assign students videos without the obstacle of hearing "my airpod does not work on this computer Miss." As a science teacher, I use mostly video clips to bring the, at times, abstract world of Biology to life. However, with the new fad of bluetooth headphones, students no longer have headphones on hand that are compatible with school laptops. At the moment, I mostly show videos in a whole-class setting on a promethium board. Through reflection, I now realize that whole-class video viewing is limiting especially when it comes to the learning paces of the diverse groups of students, specifically my low-level readers and my language learners who need caption. Having the freedom to pause, change the caption, or rewind is something even I do when watching videos. This is why my new focus this year is using these tools to improve my student's visual comprehension. Similar to reading comprehension, student cannot obtain information just from watching a video once as a whole group. They need time to watch videos, pause at their own pace, or even collaborate and watch videos in smaller groups. With the requested supplies of headphone jacks and a class set headphones I will be able to make this more a reality. Also, the material of the supplies allows me to easily sanitize these headphones after each use. Help me help my student no longer have the obstacle of computer compatibility from exposing them to all the visual science resource available through online videos.
