Our classroom needs to beef up our library with titles that are engaging, educational, and appropriate for the grade level. We need a combination of fiction and nonfiction titles that support the district curriculum not only in reading, but writing, science, and social studies as well. In this project, students will receive nonfiction titles from National Geographic; these books are packed with accessible information, vocabulary, and text features to help students develop a deeper knowledge of topics and how to read and comprehend nonfiction titles. They will also receive titles from the series "Ordinary People Change the World", which displays biographies of famous be people thought history in an easy to read picture book format. Students will also receive a variety of fiction sets that are high interest and relevant to their lives as second graders. With his project, students will start off the year with everything we need to foster literacy and grow bright minds.
