On the first day of school, the students admired my book shelves and baskets. They begged to be able to pick out a book to read, and of course without hesitation..YES! Please! I noticed many of the students picking up the Harry Potter bin I have and grabbing a book as fast as they could. As we spoke about the books, the students told me they wanted to READ the book before they watched the movie. I only have a few Harry Potter books, and they are in really bad condition with pages falling out and covers torn off (they belonged to my husband when he was young). To have two sets of Harry Potter books would be like a dream for them. They read books in the mornings, throughout the day, and especially during Reading. They are given time each day to read and respond to their books, which is always easier when it is a book they are interested in.
