In first grade, the district does not provide a rug for the classroom. This results in the students sitting at their desks all day long!! This is not beneficial for 6 year old children. Children this young need many opportunities to move. I would love to have this learning rug in my room to allow students to sit at while learning. I feel desks should only be used when they are completing a task. Please remember how uncomfortable the hard chairs are for these kids to sit at. Kids need to be kids, and the education system does not allow that anymore. Please help my students be kids and enjoy learning in first grade.
