Research reveals that daily reading supports high academic achievement. I strive to engage my students in reading with authentic, high-interest books. Book clubs promote student ownership, leadership, and accountability. I have been working on building up my classroom library to ensure that my students always have access to high-quality books. I need your help in securing multiple copies of the same book so that my students can read them at the same time as their peers in a book club. Currently my students to not have access to very many choices because I only have one or two copies of a title. During book clubs, students decide how much they are going to read everyday and hold each other accountable. This promotes daily reading at school AND home. They deepen their comprehension through group-selected journal prompts and student-led discussions. It is really an awesome experience to see their hard work in action!
