These materials, such as a skillet, cookie cutters, paper bowls and plates, will help introduce new and familiar foods to my Pre-School students. They will learn about kitchen and cooking safety as well as get to experience the joy of making their own snacks to share and try with their peers. Often children have gone home excited telling their families that we made guacamole and they liked it or brought home a decorated cookie or donut for the nearby holiday. They get to be included in the process from start to finish with supervision, assistance and proper safety measures. These materials will help us be prepared for all we plan to "cook.” We often attach what we are making to the focus letter of the week.
