I have chosen Chromebooks because there are so many resources for kids to use to learn, but you have to have a computer device to get to those resources. We have Google Classroom and Gmail for the students, which allows students to sync to websites like Typing.com, Newsela.com, KhanAcademy.org, Moby Max, ReadWorks.org, and so many more! By syncing, I can track student progress and ability. A lot of these websites make learning and intervention fun while providing structure and internet safety. I also assist children with completing projects in their core classes, and we need access to our own computer devices when others are having class or are testing. Using Chromebooks along with Google Classroom and other web-based support gives me the ability to place students into groups and work with them on specific projects in real time without having to worry about how I am going to be able to present and teach my lessons that day. I do not have my own classroom as I share a space with two other interventionists. I have worked with kids in the Cafeteria, the hallway, and many other places all over the school. I would rather work with the kids wherever we can find a spot than not see them at all. These Chromebooks will allow me to be mobile anywhere in the building and still work with the kids without worrying about other intervention and testing schedules. Chromebooks equal independence.
