I have a joke that my students figure out my in-office hours quick and will be sure to find their way to my room during those times. The funny thing is that it is less a joke and more a truth, they are always quick to find me and let me know about their world, good or bad. My students are full of challenges, concerns, and a few other things that can make their life in middle school tough, but more importantly, they are full of laughter, innovation, and achievements. I have watched students that struggled at the time of my arrival begin to grow and become more sure of themselves as scholars and as individuals. Best of all. I get to stand by their side and cheer them on as they do the "hard stuff". Middle school is such a strange time in a child's life, they are still children but so much closer to young-adulthood each day, the best part about my job, is that I get to watch and guide them on this awesome journey!
