All children love to create and my inquisitive first graders are no different. I see them building the future as architects, engineers, parents, and leaders of the world. As we build a community of learners in our classroom, we learn best with manipulating objects and full hands on cooperative groups. We are located west of Houston in Fort Bend County where our district has been called the most ethnically diverse county in America. Our school is situated in a neighborhood that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. A year later, students and family are in recovery phase as they return for a new school year. Many children are first generation Americans and about a third of our school population is low income. School is the place our students come to flourish, create, imagine, and learn to become great friends. Their hearts and minds are open, and I love seeing them as they heal in a positive environment.
