This project will expand the elementary music program with instruments and accessories that will benefit the kindergarten and special needs students. Our kindergarten and special needs students are using instruments for the first time and often find it difficult to manipulate larger or more complex instruments. Age appropriate instruments and accessories that are designed for these students will allow them to better explore sounds and build on the foundation of their music education. Our special needs students are mainstreamed in regular classrooms for activities like music but require special materials to participate fully in classroom activities. We also have a dedicated music class tailored to our special needs students. We will use proceeds to purchase instruments, books, CDs and manipulatives to engage the students fully in music.
