Our blended Pre-Kindergarten/Early Childhood Special Education program services up to 30 students ages 3-5 annually. Our classroom is a very busy place with many eager learners. We love to learn and explore through hands-on developmentally appropriate play in our classroom. In the world of early childhood, students are frequently on the floor both to sit and listen to stories read aloud, and to engage with various materials such as blocks and other building materials. The large 9’x12’ rug we currrently use in our classroom is over 13 years old and has become very worn out and stained over the years. It is also very important for our young students to have seating boundaries so they are aware of their proximity to other students and to allow them their own space when listening, learning, and playing. The classroom rug we have chosen is very developmentally appropriate, with pictures available so students know where to sit without the current paper taped to the floor which is now necessary. It would provide a cleaner alternative and more developmentally appropriate surface for them to play and would brighten up our classroom as well!
