The way our kids are learning and the jobs we are preparing them for are changing, so we have to alter our approaches to teaching them and holding their attention. I want to transform my classroom seating style to support these changes in the needs of my students. The new seats will be medicine balls, stools with bouncy bands on the legs, and swivel chairs purchased from my Amazon wishlist. This will give my kids choices in their comfort for 45 minutes of the day and maybe something to motivate them to get to class on time (make it first come first serve). It would also work to give my fidgeters something to do physically while they focus. The tables are a key part to this classroom transformation and will be a great way to inspire collaboration and make it less time consuming to do things like “turn and talks” to discuss ideas and such.
