This project will help in creating the use of book clubs for next year. Our school is getting rid of AR and I want to start book clubs. This project will pay for sets of books that students can use for their book clubs. With book clubs, my hope is to create a fun way for students to read new books while also creating more opportunities for students to take charge of their own learning. My goal in starting book clubs is to help motivate students to read for the love of reading while also using conversation and small groups to tackle the key features of the book: setting, problem, solution, character motivations and fears, etc. The use of book clubs will put the power back into my students' hands. They will get to create their book clubs, pick their books, and given some resources, students will get to talk about what they liked, disliked, how they related, and if they want to continue reading more of this author.
