Giggles, laughter, and astonished gasps are what let me know my students are learning. Throughout the year we've expanded our knowledge of the scientific world, furthering our understanding with floating pumpkins, erupting volcanoes, and swirling rainbow milk. Each inquiry leaves my students hungering for more. They eagerly anticipate our next unit of study, predicting what will be next. "The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery"- Mark Van Doren. With these STEM kits and Lego sets, we can further our problem-solving skills and collaborate solutions together. Able to diversify for numerous lessons and objectives, we can use these as tools throughout our curriculum; not strictly for "science". Legos are a toy that students are naturally drawn to and eager to use. Lessons using Legos and building blocks are no longer dull schoolwork, but imaginative playgrounds. Building blocks from STEM kits can be used to sequence a read aloud or envision a storyboard for writing. With STEM kits we can build traps for leprechauns or catapults to launch marshmallows. These tools will allow my students' imaginations to come to life!
