I have requested multiple STEM and STEAM projects that will further my students knowledge in simple machines, levers, gears, pulleys, and Newton's Laws. I have requested 6 sets of each of Engino Discover STEM kits for Newton's Laws, Pulleys, Levers, Wheel and Axels, and Incline Planes so that my students can explore these lessons in small groups of 4. This will ensure that they can maximize their understanding and learning potential. It will also give me the opportunity to work closely with each individual student and give them immediate feedback of their learning. These projects cover the main Science standards for 4th grade. PBLs, or Project Based Learning, is extremely important for students so that they can learn AND apply skills for immediate feedback on their learning. These projects are interactive for student-led learning, where they not only learn educational standards, but also leadership and lifelong skills. In my years in 4th grade, I have realized that many students lack social skills because of many years of teacher-led learning. These are mandatory skills that our future generation must master. I have also included classroom activities such as Family's Feud to use for critical thinking skills and vocabulary, multiple sets of 'I Have, Who Has' in Math, Language Arts, Vocabulary, and Science, Reading Comprehension and Writing Prompt Cubes, and Figurative Language in a Jar. These will be used for Guided Math, Guided Reading, and Science stations. Also included is a Build Your Own Video Game STEM kit that will really connect to my students interests as well as furthering knowledge for my high ability students who need that extra extension of learning. All of these activities and projects will be a game changer for my students. We truly appreciate your generosity of contributing to our classroom community!
