We believe our students need a classroom with flexible seating areas that enable them to focus on their studies and have choice over their work environment. Attending school every day is essentially a job for students. For 5 days a week, 7 hours a day, they work hard and we believe providing them with a way to channel their energy and embrace their creativity while focusing on their school work in an efficient and productive way is essential. The students and classrooms of today are different from 10 or 20 years ago. Our world is changing, as are our students’ needs. To ensure a classroom environment where students feel valued, motivated, and comfortable, we want to provide work areas that will meet their different needs. Some students are most productive when they have the space to pace around, others prefer to curl up when reading while other prefer to work quietly. For these reasons and more, we are committed to moving away from the traditional desk and chair, and opening the classroom to a variety of spaces. We strongly believe flexible seating will increase student engagement and help our students be successful. With this money, we will be able to provide a classroom in which students can chose the work environment that best suits them and which enables them to be focused and engaged in their work.
