In order to give these fabulous first graders the best learning experience possible, Core Engagement wobble stools, stability balance discs, and stationary stools will be used to provide physical and academic support. Research has shown that providing students with flexible seating options such as the wobble stools positively impacts students' physical and mental well-being by improving metabolism, increasing oxygen flow to the brain and by improving core strength. Flexible seating has also been shown to increase student motivation and engagement, making it a great tool for our classroom. If this project is funded, students will be allowed to experiment with each of the new seating options to decide which option(s) best fits their needs. The new seating options will give each student the opportunity to decide what works best for them!
