My students are a fun and energetic group of kids from a rural town in Pennsylvania. Many come from socio-economically disadvantaged households, but we try our best not to let that interfere with their learning. However, despite our hard work, many struggle with the very basics of reading, writing, and math, which are skills they will need throughout the rest of their lives. It breaks my heart every time I hear one of them say, "I hate school." I want students to be able to experience the same passion and excitement that surrounds my love of learning. My goal is that by the time June arrives, even my most reluctant students will be saying, SCHOOL ROCKS!
