Our daily routine consists of morning meeting, reading/language arts and partner reading. A majority of this time takes place on our carpet. We then do whole group math, grammar and writing lessons on the carpet before the students move to their desks for independent work. My classroom is in desperate need of a new carpet. I have had my current one for 11 years. It has seen and been through a lot. You can only imagine what it looks like after all these years! Our very small neighborhood elementary school is a Title 1 school that serves in a low income area. We have a very small PTA and most money raised from fundraisers goes towards school wide events and field trips. I want to exhaust all options for a new rug before I ask PTA for funds. I would rather have those funds benefit the whole school rather than just one class.
