What makes us special is that our school serves a diverse and high poverty population. For many of my students the school library is the only place that they have access to books. Because of their lack of access to books that are interesting to them, many of my students are 2-3 grade levels behind. And as you know, research has shown that the more time spent reading, the better reader a child will become. I would like to provide them with books that will spark their interest in reading which will in turn help them to become better readers.
