I teach in a small rural school with the student population less than 450 for all of K-12. We have a very high percentage of families who qualify for Free and Reduced lunch which also qualifies us for school wide Title One. We really strive to help provide for families in need. The staff, students and the community are amazing!
Each year I am gifted an amazing new group of students that are excited to take on all of the challenges of first grade. We quickly revisit skills learned in Kindergarten and then take on new challenges that will extend their learning to a whole new level. This is the first year students are given homework which can be overwhelming at first. Students also have a hallway locker for the first time. With many papers and items that travel back and forth from school to home and home to school we start right away in September teaching them how to stay organized and take responsibility caring for their CAMP binder system which goes along with our year long camp theme
