In my district, students are always connected to technology. We use Chromebooks daily, and often their "textbooks" are electronic. Many students don't pick up traditional books anymore, and many are often only reading when forced to for class. Allowing students to "un-plug" and have a dedicated time to read books they WANT to read is a goal in my classroom this year. I want my high school students to have access to books that interest them. Being a high school teacher, a classroom library isn't something that comes with the classroom - many books in my room are outdated or not of interest to my students. Unfortunately, purchasing new and current books gets expensive. Your donation would allow me to purchase books that appeal to high school kids - the titles kids want to read, and that are often checked out of the library due to their popularity. This will​ help me begin building a classroom library that is needed for today's students.
