One area of special education is making sure good routines are established. Every morning we have carpet time which is a little difficult to do without a carpet. This time allows students to talk and get to know their classmates better. It also sets the tone for the entire day. For students to be successful students need to feel safe a relaxed. To achieve this I need to have a room that helps them feel that way. By having rugs I can establish routines to help them be successful. I can also use the rugs to establish set spaces for different activities such as library or break time which is what the exercise ball will be used for. In creating these different spaces I can help students follow routines and help generalize to different locations. This helps them gain confidence and be more successful.
