My second grade students are eager learners that are all at different developmental levels. They enjoy reading every chance they get. They are also compassionate students that enjoy helping struggling students with their reading. My students live in a high-poverty area in Los Angeles where most students stay late after-school because their parents work late. This makes it difficult for parents to find time to read with their child. Reading is such an important key to success, but not every student has the necessary help to become a fluent reader.
