In Kindergarten, children start to learn about themselves and others. They are learning about similarities and differences. They are learning to name emotions, and recognize the feelings of others. They are learning about how to treat other people and how to handle social conflicts. My students need tools including the feeling and emotions dolls for learning how to manage their emotions. Emotional regulation is at the fore front of learning in early childhood classrooms. Many children lack understanding of their emotions and therefore struggle to understand how to respond when they experience strong emotions. The Social-Emotional Competence Support Kit provides books and materials that encourage building relationships, facilitating friendships, and addressing challenging behaviors. Through social emotional learning, we can create a safe classroom with academic success.
